Zenit 12xp Light Meter Repair Hey guys, I own a Zenit 12xp film camera and i cannot make the light meter work. It fundamentally has 2 LED's that indicate if the frame is overexposed or underexposed.

.From your photo, your 12s ("Snaiper", for use with a pistol grip) looks like it takes one PX625 battery, the same as the earlier Zenit TTL. I have a Zenit 12XP, which takes two 386 batteries, but they fit tightly in the compartment.

Apart from the obvious advantage of independence from a light meter, the sunny 16 rule can also aid in achieving correct exposure of difficult subjects. As the rule is based on incident light, rather than reflected light as with most camera light meters, very bright or very dark subjects are compensated for.

After a examining the two cameras the Zenit seemed to be in a very good condition although it hadn't been used for more than a decade.. This is a fully mechanical camera with a TTL CdS light meter. The meter works simply through two LED that we can see in the viewfinder, if the upper led is on it's too bright, if the lower led is on, it's too dark. The film sensitivity scale is measured in GOST, a soviet scale that's close to the ASA/ISO, but its not quite there.
